Keeping our pets safe during winter!

Cold temperatures, snow, and ice can be dangerous for animals, so it’s important to take some extra precautions to keep your furry friend safe all winter long. Here are some tips for keeping your pet safe in winter;

1. Keep your pet warm and dry. Make sure your pet has a warm, dry place to stay inside your home. If your pet must be outdoors, provide a well-insulated doghouse or cat shelter that’s off the ground and facing away from the wind. Another way of staying warm, is training your pet for Kodi’s Cancer Research Fun Run/Walk event. This will motivate you to get you and your pet out on a regular basis.

2. Limit your pet’s time outdoors. When it’s cold outside, your pet will want to spend less time outdoors. Limit your pet’s time outside to potty breaks and short walks, and make sure they come back inside before they get too cold.

3. Protect your pet’s paws. Ice, snow, and salt can be harsh on your pet’s paws. Invest in a good pair of pet-safe boots to protect their paws from the elements. You can also use petroleum jelly on their paw to help keep their paws moisturised. By the time the next event for Kodi’s Cancer Research Fun Run/Walk the weather will be much warmer and won’t have to worry about such cold weather.

There are many ways to keep our pets safe and healthy, especially during winter which includes providing them with warm blankets or clothes so that they don’t feel cold, and having comfy and cosy areas for them to relax and rest. Heated beds are also useful as you can leave them on as long as the product is put according to the directions, so you don’t have to worry about forgetting to switch them off.

Kodi our founder of Kodi’s Cancer Research Fun Run/Walk event, loves sleeping indoors and snuggled up on the bed.

Make sure to provide good access to water so that they’re not dehydrated. It is important for pet owners to maintain a good habit of regular health checks.
